Forum
Readers from all over the world join in discussions on previous surveys. Titled players, correspondence players and club players shed their light on opening developments and search for the truth together. With contributions by Viacheslav Zakhartsov, Viktor Moskalenko, Tibor Karolyi, Bogdan Lalic, Nikolai Ninov, Atanas Kolev and many others.

Sosonko’s Corner
Genna Sosonko’s Corner is aimed at players confronted with a theoretical novelty this time. He highlights recent devastating surprises by the likes of Topalov, Svidler and Gashimov and compares them with sensational pre-computer era discoveries by Tal, Polugaevsky and others. The best advice hasn’t changed!

Book Reviews
Glenn Flear has more good advice: ‘cherry-pick’ from the piles of theoretical lines. That’s precisely what Christoph Scheerer has done in his original work ‘The Greatest Ever Chess Opening Ideas’. Karsten Müller and Rainer Knaak’s ‘222 Opening Traps after 1.d4’ gets the same treatment as the one ‘after 1.e4’ in Yearbook 87. Three specialist books, ‘Dangerous Weapons: The Benoni and Benko’ bij Palliser, Emms, Ward and Jones, New In Chess author Moskalenko’s new tome ‘The Flexible French’ and Yelena Dembo’s ‘fighting the anti-King’s Indians’, all feature amazing stuff. Okay, you were told to cherry-pick, but actually all three of these are cherries!
