Instruction + exercises according to the old Soviet Chess School.

The best advice for chess players who want to improve quickly is: get better at tactics! Because the vast majority of amateur games is decided through tactics you will immediately start beating more opponents when you improve your tactical skills.

Improve Your Chess Tactics presents more than 700 decisive combinations from tournament practice and is a self-tutor and a sparring-partner in one. Experienced Russian chess master Yakov Neishtadt has selected those examples that have the biggest instructional value for club players.

In the first part of the book Neishtadt teaches a systematic course on the most important tactical themes. The second part consists of an exam with hundreds of tests from real-life chess, in random order so as not to give unwelcome hints on how to solve them.

The solutions are not just lists of moves, but include clear, witty and instructive prose.

Yakov Neishtadt is a famous chess writer and historian. He published dozens of books, in his native Russia and abroad, and was editor-in-chief of the acclaimed Soviet chess magazine 64.

Alexander Nikitin, Garry Kasparov’s coach:
“A great book!”

E. Carl, Europa Rochade Magazine:
"A high-level tactics manual for quite a friendly price."

Paul Motwani, The Scotsman:
"Superb."

Max Euwe Centre, Amsterdam:
"After you have worked your way through this book ands studied seriously, you will be a crack tactician."

Joe Petrolito, Australasian Chess Magazine:
"An excellent feature of the book is the extensive coverage of combined tactical themes."

 Richard Vedder, Schakers.info:
"Excellent training material for those who want to improve their tactical abilities (..) My personal favorites are the 'Miracle Saves'."

Marshtower Chess Reviews:
"It's a great collection, featuring positions from every phase of the game and set out very nicely by New In Chess."

Hans Böhm, de Telegraaf:
"Because both the tests and the solutions are presented in diagrams, you don't need board and pieces."

Torrewachters.be:
"This book offers everything."

Martin Eden, SoloSchacchi:
"I challenge everybody to show me that after careful study of this fantastic book he has not become at least a Candidate Master."

Daniel King, the Guardian:
"The last section is a giant examination of 356 positions where themes are mixed - so it's a truer test of your skill. Solutions are carefully explained and the layout is clean, generous and attractive."
